The Story of the Sojourn House
Before the world changed due to COVID, I had a dream, to build something cool. I prayed and asked God for direction, and I believe He gave me, simply "start small." I had been intrigued by the idea of tiny houses, and so that started the journey. Welcome to the "sojourn" the flagship of what I hope to be a collection of custom built or highly customized "off the beaten path" tiny houses. The "sojourn" takes its name from a word used even in Biblical times, meaning short or temporary stay, and here at the sorjourn, we welcome you to do just that, enjoy your time in a somewhat rural (15 min commute from the square) yet beautiful part of the North MS, during your travel to Oxford, MS. The concept behind a "digitally disconnected" house draws from my personal experience, and belief that technology can enslave us if we allow it, and so, we should push back, for better mental health by creating intentional spaces for disconnect from internet, devices, etc. Tech should not dictate our time and tell us how we should use or enjoy your time, it is a tool, to be put in its proper place, and allow for us to enjoy life organically, at least in part. The Sojourn is a custom designed, Amish built, 640 sq foot place, that, slightly exceeds the 400sq ft or less requirement to be be techincally labeled a "tiny house", which is why its labeling has found its place in a new niche market: "Texas-sized" tiny housing. Yes, I kinda made that up, but anyway, its new, and different, Lets just say I am trying to pave a road here, instead of following everybody else, I guess, for what its worth... Either way, I hope that you would consider a stay with us on your next visit to Oxford!
